Mwingi MP aspirant Gideon Mulyungi on Thursday won repeat Wiper nominations in the constituency.

The poll was staged following a court ordered which asked the party to repeat the exercise in 19 polling stations.

Mulyungi garnered 15,833 votes against former LSK chairman Eric Mutua who got 7,023.

Returning officer Francis Kivindu said the nomination conducted in a strict environment compared to last time.

"We did not want more complaints," he said at the constituency tallying centre on Friday.

Mulyungi will contest against Samuel Makau of CCU party, Joe Mutambu of Jubilee Party, Julius Mutukaa of Narc, and Musikali Mutemi (Independent) in August.

Eric sued the aspirant citing irregularities in the last nominations.

He said there will be no Wiper candidate in the region if the nominations were to be declared null and void by the court.
