The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya has condemned the use of buibuis in prostitution.

CIPK organising secretary Mohammed Khalifa yesterday asked residents to respect buibuis.

“There are women who use the buibui to do prostitution. There are also men who dress in it and mix with women to do prostitution,” he said

Khalifa was speaking at a women’s forum in Mombasa.

He criticised women who dress inappropriately.

“We want the [county] government to solve the issue of inappropriate dressing [especially] those women who wear extremely short dresses,” Khalifa said.

Kisauni Constituency Development Initiative chairman Salma Ali urged women MPs and woman representatives to condemn inappropriate dressing.

“Women MPs should represent us by pushing for a bill in Parliament that will restrict inappropriate dressing. As women we are very much ashamed,” she said.
