The inauguration of eight Kitui CEC members was delayed

on Tuesday

as the organisers forgot to carry a Bible and oath documents.

They discovered the items were missing just before the function began at KEFRI centre.

Father Richard Kyenza rushed to Governor Charity Ngilu's official car and took out her personal Bible.

But after county secretary Alex Kimanzi apologised for the oversight, it emerged oath of office documents were missing.

Kitui resident magistrate Rose Ombata could not carry on without the documents so she rushed to her office to collect them.

She returned after more than an hour but the function went on smoothly.

Ngilu asked the CECs to roll up their sleeves for the "onerous" task for making Kitui prosperous.

"You are the drivers of my five-point agenda for sufficient water, food security, quality and affordable health care, youth and women empowerment," she said.
