Thanks for standing with our son Uhuru, Murang'a leaders tell Ruto

Muranga leaders have lauded and thanked William Ruto for standing with President Uhuru Kenyatta since 2013.

Led by Senator Irungu Kang'ata, they said they will repay the

Deputy President

in kind.

"We as Mt Kenya, and specifically Murang'a county, sincerely thank the DP for standing with our son and leader in his first term, and even now, despite the few hurdles in the re-election bid."

The Supreme Court nullified Uhuru's August 8 victory after NASA candidate Raila Odinga filed a petition at the Supreme Court.

The repeat the court ordered will take place on October 26.

Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria said they have formulated a plan to ensure a large voter turnout.

"We are meeting all voters at all polling stations to ensure the 80,000 who did not participate in the poll are part of the repeat exercise," the Governor told residents on Saturday.

"We want to

ensure the President is re-elected with over 10 million votes."

The leaders observed a moment of silence for the mother of

woman representative Sabina Chege who died in an accident last week.

Her father is in the ICU at Agha Khan Hospital.

Former MP Elias Mbau and former Senator Kembi Gitura also attended the function.

Ruto is expected to vie for president in 2022 after Uhuru rules for his second and final term.
