The opposition has ruled out submitting additional names for the East African Legislation Assembly positions, saying Jubilee will not dictate to it who to nominate.

Wiper’s National Executive Committee yesterday met and vowed not to replace Kennedy Kalonzo, party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, whose inclusion in Cord’s EALA list has raised eyebrows.

“Our understanding of the law is that our list is final. We hold the position that no more names will be provided apart from the ones already submitted,” secretary general Hassan Omar said.

On Monday, minority whip Thomas Mwadeghu resubmitted Abubakar Zein, Judith Pareno, Ronald Ngeny and Kennedy’s names.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula added Caroline Aluoch as the party’s nominee. National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has opposed the inclusion of Kalonzo’s son.

Omar said they will not take orders from Jubilee on who to nominate in the regional Parliament and urged the House leadership to adopt the names.

“There are people who want revenge against Pareno after failing in the ODM nominations,” he said.
