An NTV journalist was seriously injured and his camera destroyed by GSU officers in Voi on Thursday.
Bill Otieno was covering a demonstration by boda boda riders before the officers who were dispersing the group attacked him.
The cops did not want to be filmed as they beat up the demonstrators at Voi's Caltex junction.
The officers threw him into their truck, rained on him with kicks and blows, and destroyed his memory card.
"They beat me up and ended up destroying my camera and memory card. I lost the footage of the demos," he said.
The GSU officers were in seven lorries heading to Nairobi where they encountered the demonstrating bodaboda riders.
The riders were up in arms against rampant insecurity in Voi town.
"The officers dropped me at Man Eaters in the middle of Tsavo national park," Otieno said.
"My colleague from KNA, who saw them taking me away, followed us with a Tuk Tuk and picked me at the park," he said.
The protests were sparked by the killing of a rider at the town. The man's body was found dumped by the roadside.
His limbs were tied with an elastic band and his mouth stashed with shredded polythene bags.
The rider's motorbike was stolen on the night of his murder. His colleagues blamed police of laxity to contain such attacks.
Cases of journalists suffering attacks while on duty are on the rise in the country lately.
