DP William Ruto and Kanu chair Gideon Moi are at daggers drawn in the race for president in 2022.
Following Kanu's endorsement of President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election on August 8, the two will have to think keenly of their strategy after.
The cold relationship between Ruto and Gideon almost cost Uhuru Kanu's support.
This appears to have been by Mama Ngina Kenyatta to former President Daniel Moi.
“I brought my case for the members to consider NASA but as you know we are a democratic organ and the majority was for Uhuru’s re-election. That is a democracy,”
said Kanu secretary general Nick Salat during the endorsement on Thursday.
The move has eased the battle for support in the vote-rich Rift Valley region.
Salat had attended a Bomas event that many perceived to be the birth of the opposition alliance.
Since its formation, Ruto has dismissed NASA and termed its leaders power hungry.
NASA is, however, making inroads through Turkana, Trans Nzoia, Narok and Kajiado to wrestle pastoralists from the ruling party.
Ruto and Gideon will be struggling to win more seats in the coming elections in a bid to boost their Presidential ambitions by having the power to influence both houses at the national assembly.
