The form one selection process will begin next Tuesday and end on

December 19, the Education ministry has said.

Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang,

regional education coordinators and county education directors received the directive on Wednesday.

Kipsang said CS Fred Matiang'i will preside over the launch of the exercise at the KICD, ahead of the admission that will begin on

January 9.

Matiang'i, who released KCPE exam results early, said form one admission letters will be issued before Christmas.

The CS added that the selection will be based on merit, quotas, equity, affirmative action and candidate choices.

Knut's Baringo executive secretary Stanley Kiptis and other stakeholders have urged the ministry to be fair in form one selection and ensure students are sent to the schools based on their performance.

Kiptis also said the ministry should keep its promise of making sure those who missed their results obtain them and secure places in high schools.

More on this:

Private schools are concerned about affirmative action, which helps children from public schools, who are perceived to face hardship.

It puts private schools at a disadvantage.

The CS promised the concerns will be looked into but that the current formula will still be used.
