Information Technology firm Sophos has been ranked the top company in developing security software and hardware, retaining the position for the filth year running.

Sophos emerged leader in the "Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management” category under the 2016 Gartner Incorpration survey.

The firm that builds robust IT security architecture has maintained its place as one of only three vendors in the Leaders Quadrant.

Sophos senior vice president and general manager Bryan Barney noted that network security remains a critical pillar in protection against today’s sophisticated and persistent threats and is one of the fastest growing market segments in IT security.

“Our continued recognition as a leader in the Magic Quadrant validates our position at the forefront of this important and growing market,” Barney said in a statement.

The Sophos network security business has recorded stable growth in recent times.

The firm recorded 27.5 per cent growth in its Network security business, in the financial year ending March 31. This was above the reported market growth of seven per cent.

Other companies also named in the “leaders” category under Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management were Hillstone Networks and Check point softwares technologies.

In the report, Vendors led the market in offering new safety features, and in enabling customers to deploy them inexpensively without significantly affecting the end-user experience or increasing staffing burdens.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is the brand name for a series of market research reports published by Gartner Incorporation, an American research and advisory firm.

It aims at providing a qualitative analysis into a market and its direction, maturity and participants.

The quadrant is based on an assessment of a company’s ability to execute its vision.
