President Uhuru Kenyatta has commended Coast leaders who have resolved to work with the Jubilee administration to improve the lives of residents.

The President said Jubilee is ready to work with all leaders from the Coast region and other parts of the country who are focused on development.

He asked politicians to cultivate a culture of providing solutions to the electorate’s problems instead of creating them.

“People look up to leaders to provide solutions to their problems. That is why they elect them. So, it is wrong for the same leaders to take the problems back to the electorate instead of solving them,” he said.

Uhuru spoke on Saturday when he addressed a public rally at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School in Msambweni.

He urged Msambweni residents to follow development-conscious leaders through the Jubilee Party that will unite all Kenyans.

Uhuru, who had earlier handed over medical equipment worth Sh400 million at Msambweni hospital; and opened a tuition block and donated a bus to Msambweni Medical Training Centre, disclosed that over 5 million households are now connected to electricity across the country. Out of that number, he said, 3 million were connected by the Jubilee administration.

He said the government has also set aside Sh2 million for electricity projects in Kwale county this financial year and in two weeks 250 households more will have been connected to electricity.

Responding to Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori, Uhuru said his office is open and Dori is free to go and discuss issues affecting Msambweni residents instead of lamenting in public rallies.

He outlined the projects the government has implemented in Kwale County including Sh350 million allocated for the resettlement of residents to pave way for the construction Mwache dam.

DP William Ruto urged Coast residents not to gamble their lives by following politicians with no known development record.

Ruto asked Kwale residents to join other Kenyans in supporting Jubilee, a party whose main tenet is uniting the country.

“The Jubilee Party brings together people from all walks of life and of all ages regardless of tribe, religion or race. It is a party that will consolidated our nation’s unity for rapid development,” he said.

Speaking at the rally, Governor Salim Mvurya urged Kwale residents to vote for Uhuru, Ruto and Jubilee.

Mvurya said the politics of Kwale have changed with the realisation that Uhuru and Ruto are the people who are supporting the county on its development agenda not the opposition.

“And in the next general election, we have said we will vote for those who have stood with us and supported our development agenda,” the Governor said.

He thanked Uhuru and Ruto for launching several projects in the county, especially the Sh400 million medical equipment at Msambweni hospital.

Other speakers included area Senator Boy Juma Boy, Woman rep Zainab Chidzuga and Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani.
