Police in Kisumu on Sunday arrested three suspects who are accused of being behind the conning of unsuspecting residents millions of shillings.

Mutegeki Rwekazi and Saduru Isaa Msuruni, both Tanzanianians and Najib Osman, a Ugandan, were arrested at their hideout in Tom Mboya Estate.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Joseph Keitany said the trio had escaped last week after being ambushed by Quick Response Team and Flying Squad officers.

He said they have been trailing the suspects since Friday after conning Robert Matete a former banker of Sh1 million.

"We commend the public for working closely with the police to weed out criminals in their midst," Keitany said.

The three were arrested by QRT officers at about 5pm following a tip off from members of the public.

Last Friday, police recovered Sh4 million which Matete had taken to the suspects for ‘special prayers and rituals’.

He had presented the cash to the suspects for prayers to have him get his job and wife back.

He also wanted the money to be "multiplied".

Matete had lost his job and separated with his wife shortly after being rendered jobless.
