Pupils of a school in Murang'a got a rare opportunity to use lifts in one of the

tallest buildings in Nairobi on Saturday.

The

learners at Kiawambogo Primary School in Kangema constituency used the elevators to the 22nd floor of View Park Towers and had a view of the city.

Their headmaster Julius Mwangi accompanied them on the tour that was organised by JamboPay CEO Danson Muchemi and his staff members.

During the tour, the more than 50 pupils were shown how the JamboPay's

e-payment system works.

They sat on the CEO's seat and

listened to talks by line mangers including

Dominic Kosgei (finance) and Wendy Ogano (legal affairs).

"We were honoured to host the kids. Some of them had never seen lifts and never been out of Kangem," said Phylis Mwangi, head of marketing and PR.

Mwangi explained that the children noticed several tall buildings while on a tour of Uhuru Park early this year.

He said View Park Towers was the tallest among the saw. Times Tower is the tallest building in Kenya with 34 floors.

Mwangi said he then wrote a letter for a tour to the building's management in June

but that the request was declined.

The headmaster resorted to posting his handwritten letter on social media, catching the attention of JamboPay.

The company that collects revenue for the Nairobi government then organised for the children to use the elevators.

Mwangi said JamboPay called him and informed him it would be organising the tour.

"The tour has come to be. The kids wee very excited since they used lifts and viewed Nairobi from one of the tallest buildings," he said.

"We selected the best-performing kids. Teachers were also excited as this was a learning trip."
