A Kisumu farmer was on Thursday paid Sh20 million that he had won for a sports bet.

Joseph Agumba, 62, was presented with the cheque at his home in Rabuor village by the newly appointed Betway Country manager for Kenya Wanja Gakonyo.

The simple Agumba was found tending to his three cows.

He expressed happiness saying the money will change his life, family and his community.

An elated Agumba said he has been enjoying the thrills of sports betting since Betway was launched in Kenya late last year.

"My excitement fever pitch was when I was called that I have bagged a staggering Sh20 million in one of the Betway's jackpot," he said.

Agumba joins a growing lists of jackpot winners in Kenya after predicting the outcome of 13 football matches listed by Betway last week.

Gikonyo said: " Betway believes that Agumba's life will be transformed in tandem with the company's goal of improving people's lives,"

Apart from winning, the manager said the company will provide Agumba with a financial advisor to guide him on how to manage the money.

Agumba, excited with his winnings, said he was now able to focus on future prospects.

He told the press that he plans to use the money to develop one of his plots in Kisumu City.

The millionaire also wants to open up business to meet the needs of his community.

He was married to two wives, but the first wife died some years ago and divorced the second wife.

Agumba said he will also build a nice house for his family. He said that the highest amount he has ever won in a bet was Sh5,800.

"Those betting should not be discouraged, they should continue since their luck is on the way. I have lost before and now I am a winner," Agumba said.

Since its launch in late 2015, Betway Kenya has doubled its subscriber base, growing fast as it looks to make the dreams of sports betting fans a reality.
