"No evidence" of Sh250 billion Eurobond theft claim - Tobiko

There is no evidence to support the alleged theft of Sh250 billion Eurobond cash, DPP Kerioko Tobiko has said.

The DPP issued a statement on Tuesday saying "no evidence" has been found upon which prosecution may ensue.

"Further, I have found no evidence disclosing any criminality on the part of any government officials," Tobiko said.

Tobiko has directed the office of the auditor general to carry a special review on the development projects that were implemented by ministries, departments, and agencies.

He said the audit would ascertain if there was prudent use of Eurobond proceeds, and if the government received value for the money.

Raila had written to Njoroge requesting a formal face-to-face meeting to review and discuss receipt and accounting of the proceeds.

But Njoroge said he will "not honor an appointment with a third party contrary to banking laws and regulations".

The governor said Central Bank already provided all the information required by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission that was looking into claims the funds were misused.

The Cord leader , while insisting that Sh140 billion of the fund is missing.
