The celebration of Vasant Panchami is widely observed by Indian religious institutions across the globe. Vasant means 'spring' and Panchami means 'the fifth day' hence the reason the event falls of the fifth day of spring. Although it is notified in the ritual calendar of South India, it is not celebrated as a household or public event but in temples as a religious festival.
Here in Nairobi, the festival was widely enjoyed and celebrated by the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir on Friday evening. The grand celebrations includedchildren performing wonderful stories on stage, a dinner and an inspiring talk by loquent and renowned motivational speaker Pujya Bramvihari Swami.
The festivity also saw the establishment celebrate the birthdays of their greats; Sadguru Bharamanand Swami and Sadguru Nishukulanand Swami.
