Gor Mahia football club has fired head coach Frank Nuttall after he refused to have his salary reduced by 50 per cent.

Nuttal said that a contract he signed when he was hired in September 2014 stated he was to get a 10 per cent pay increase from January 1 2016.

Nuttal noted in a statement on Thursday evening that in firing him, the club's executive committee failed to honour the contract.

"The executive committee of the club terminated my contract despite the fact that it was to expire on January 1, 2017," he added.

He said the club sent a letter through his lawyers, Gradus Oluoch and Company Advocates.

Nuttal led Gor Mahia to the win the 2015 Kenyan Premier League title unbeaten. The club won the title three years in a row, two under his watch.
