ODM secretary general Agnes Zani has dismissed Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani's defections to Jubilee.

Zani

said the two failed to address issues affecting the Coast region and were looking for excuses to cover their poor performance.

“The ODM party has not received official communication from Mvuyra as is expected of members,” she added.

But the Nominated Senator said the region remains loyal to the party, which she noted remains committed to ideals.

She said the support is based on a

set of people-centered social and economic issues that residents asked "an ODM governor" to address.

Zani said the county

continues to suffer massive dispossession and impoverishment, which she described as the key issues the party will address.

“This will be clearer at the ballot next year,” she said in a press statement on Monday.

Mvurya and Achani promised to mobilise residents to vote for Jubilee in 2017.

Achani kicked off the storm, saying it was time for development-based politics and not empty promises.

“The politics of saying we belong to this group but there is nothing we get in return is gone. There are neighbours who think they will control Kwale politics but we have warned them that it will not be allowed,” she said on Saturday.
