Countrywide laptop distribution starts in September, says CS Mucheru

The government is ready to roll out the laptop programme to schools countrywide, IT CS Joe Mucheru has said.

He said the distribution of the laptops will begin on September.

“The government effort to make this country go to a digital is still on course,” Mucheru said.

He spoke on Friday during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Mango Tree, an NGO that supports orphans, in Mawego, Rachuonyo North Sub County.

The CS urged Kenyans to take advantage of opportunities the government is providing in ICT, adding that it will help thrive community radios and televisions.

“What we do not want is using the digital technologies to spread hate speech against unity and development,” he said.
