Scholarships Watch


The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is targeted at high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in the US and who are dedicated to positive civic and social change. It is intended for students who will be returning home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.

The scholarships are for international students from any country who are not US citizens, US permanent residents, or dual citizens of the US and another country.

Preference will be given to international students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as those from diverse and under-represented global and socio-economic backgrounds.

The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room and board). The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses (approximately $4,000, Sh400,000). It is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance. Deadline for application is December 15, 2015.


La Trobe’s Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) are targeted towards high achieving international students from all countries across all of La Trobe’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programmes.

The scholarship is worth between A$10,000 (Sh735,000) and A$20,000 (Sh1.47 million) and goes towards tuition fees. The scholarships are paid across a maximum of two semesters (or 12 months). If you receive this scholarship, you still need to pay for any difference in fees for your first two semesters, fees for the rest of your course, and your Overseas Student Health Cover. To continue receiving your scholarship into your second semester, you must maintain a C grade average.

You must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme. You must also have scored 85 per cent or equivalent in your previous degree/award, and meet our English language and academic entry requirements. You are not eligible if you are starting a Higher Degree by Research, exchange programme, Study Abroad programme, ELICOS and Foundation Studies programme, or Diploma course. Deadline for application is January 8, 2016.




The Sydney Achievers International Scholarships are for new international students who wants to study in University of Sydney in Australia in 2016. These prestigious scholarships are aimed at attracting high achieving, academically meritorious, international students to enjoy the ‘Sydney experience’ at one of the finest institutions of higher education in the world. Each scholarship has a value of AUD$10,000 (Sh735,000) each per annum, available for the CRICOS registered duration of a recipient’s programme of study, for any undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme offered at the University of Sydney (subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress each year).

Deadline for application is December 4, 2015.


The Fondation Rainbow Bridge MBA Scholarships was established in memory of Muriel Dargent (1967 – 2004), Matthieu Dargent (1997 – 2004), Iris Dargent (2001 – 2004), and Muriel’s parents, all of whom disappeared in the December 2004 Tsunami. The scholarships will enable young women recipients to enrich their academic background by obtaining an HEC MBA. Recipients of this scholarship are top-caliber female candidates who have been admitted to the HEC MBA programme and who can demonstrate exemplary leadership skills in one or more of the following areas:

• Community work,

• Charity engagement,

• Sustainable development practices.

Women applying must come from an Asian or African country affected by a natural disaster, drought or famine. In addition, they must demonstrate a commitment to solving some of the social and economic issues affecting their countries while working for the long-term security of the people living there. Application deadline is November 26 (annual).



The University of Cambridge will offer, via the Cambridge Trusts, approximately 80 Cambridge International Scholarships to Overseas Students who embark on a research course in the next academical year. Scholarships are offered to the PhD applicants who are liable to pay fees at the Overseas or Islands rate (i.e. not the Home/EU rate), and who are most highly ranked by their respective Departments, across all disciplines. The only factors taken into consideration are academic ability and research potential, examination results, and references. The financial situation of applicants does not affect the selection of scholars. Application deadline is December 2, 2015.
