A group of 100 widows in Mbuini ward, Mwala subcounty, on Tuesday received tents and seats from Kiala Foundation.
The group’s chairlady Martha Nduku said they approached the Foundation early this year.
“We tried to reach a few leaders of the Machakos government for assistance but none seemed to listen to us until we went to the Foundation, which offered to assist us,” she said.
Nduku said they will be hiring out the equipment and use the cash to educate their children.
Founder Bernard Kiala, the county deputy governor, said the donations will empower the women economically.
He said the widows are heroines as they go through a lot to educate their children.
