Actress Deepika Padukone highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about mental health during the launch of her NGO in Mumbai.

Inaugurated by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 10, the foundation ‘Live Love Laugh’, will deal with the issue of mental illness.

“We need to de-stigmatise mental illness and spread awareness about it. I know in the current situation we lead stressful lives but you have to keep reminding yourself that it is important to live, love and laugh. After all that is what life is all about,” Deepika said during the launch.

“Most importantly for people like me who have had an experience with anxiety and depression, I think it is important to know that there is hope,” she added.

Deepika talked about battling depression and the support she got from her parents and loved ones.

Her mother Ujjala Padukone said: “I detected the symptoms in Deepika and thought it may be a boyfriend issue. But then I knew depression is due to mental and physical stress and we realized that we should get help from a psychiatrist”.

Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone added: “I was worried about the health of my daughter and we wanted her to be fine”.

The Piku star agreed that the depression she went through has changed her. “A lot of experiences we go through in life make you learn something and develop you into a better person,” she said.

Thanks a lot you thieving women! Salman will not take selfies now!

Salman Khan is not having a very good month. While his father underwent surgery, Khan has been grappling with an unusual level of fan frenzy.

Female fans have become the bane of Salman’s existence. Barely have we gotten over the incident of a female fan uploading her selfie with Salman and posting it on social network sites claiming to be his girlfriend. Reports now in are of Salman Khan being robbed by two female fans at a posh nightclub in Mumbai.

A close buddy of Salman laughs, “Yup, it actually happened last week. Salman went to a club with some friends where a couple of female fans approached him. He began chatting with them in his normal friendly way and then excused himself to go to the washroom leaving his wallet and expensive sunglasses on the table. When he returned both the female fans and his valuables were gone.”

Salman Khan refused to press charges. “He was advised to report the matter. But he let it go. However, he is now doubly careful with fans.”

Coming shortly after the earlier incident with the self-declared selfie ‘girlfriend’, after which Salman had decided never to take pictures with strangers, now he may swear off all interaction with fans.

Thanks for nothing you darn women! I’m scouring online marketplaces to see if they’ve put up his things for auction to get a high bid on Salman’s personal effects.

Music director Ravindra Jain passes away

Even though thumping music is the ‘genre’ of choice in Bollywood today, one person who will always be remembered for his simplicity and undying passion towards music... the master himself Ravindra Jain.

The sad news is that Jain is no longer with us as he set for heavenly abode on Tuesday. Recently, he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital due to his failing health (urinary infection causing a problem in his kidney as per reports).

The irony was that despite being born blind, Jain’s music served as an eye opener to many. He never let his visual challenge handicap his creativity in any way. His works of genius can be heard in films like Insaf ka Tarazu, Raja Harishchandra, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Chitchor and many others.

Kajol was the first choice for the role of Naina in ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ but due to her busy schedule, she could not accept it. The role finally went to Rani Mukerji.
So hypothetically speaking, if Kajol’s role had been finalized, I’m wondering how she would have looked opposite Abhishek Bachchan!
