Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wairia’s wife Jane Kimani has been summoned to court over alleged fraudulent land transactions.

It is claimed the land in Makuyu was sold to her through forged documents at Sh4.8 million.

The summons was issued on Wednesday by Murang’a principal magistrate Anthony Mwichigi when Kimani failed to appear in court for the second time.

Another woman, Lucy Thogo, has already been charged with seven counts of fraud, forging documents and selling the land to Kimani.

Thogo is charged with obtaining money by false pretence between March 17 and 31 last year at George Ng’ang’a Mbugu’s Advocates office in Nairobi.

She pretended she could sell Kimani the land.

Thogo is also charged with conspiracy alongside Joseph Kamande.

She is accused of presenting a forged share certificate No. 008 in the name of Samuel Magaga for the Makuyu/Kariaini/block 3/20 parcel at Murang’a Lands office.

Thogo also presented a clearance letter from Marema Cooperative Society to the Lands registrar in Murang’a, Nancy Nyaga.

In a separate charge, she is charged with forging the signature of Magaga on November 15, 1992.

She also faces another charge of forging the signature of Utoka assistant chief Walter Ondera the same day.

Thogo requested the court to reduce her Sh1.5 million bond, saying it is too much for her.

But the prosecution objected and said the charges are weighty.

“The accused person will be admitted within the prevailing bond terms,” Mwichigi said in his statement.

The case will be heard on December 16.
