The EACC has arrested two senior managers of a Chinese company, charged with the construction of the SGR, for allegedly giving bribes to KENHA officers.

Four trucks of the China Roads and Bridges Construction Company were also confiscated in operations by KENHA and the EACC at the weekend, the commission said.

Engineer/liaison officer Tang Ju allegedly offered and gave a Sh100,000 bribe to a KENHA official so as not to pay overloading charges.

In a statement to newsrooms on Monday, the EACC said liason officer Liu Yabin offered and gave a Sh30,000 bribe to an official of the Highways authority for the same reason.

Ju was arrested last Friday following an operation near Emali Trading Centre on Mombasa Road.

He was booked at Emali police station and his passport confiscated, but was released on Sh200,000 cash bail pending appearance in court.

Yabin was arrested last Saturday in an operation near Taru Trading Centre on Mombasa Road.

He was booked at Taru Police Station and her passport also withheld, and was released on Sh60,000 cash bail.

EACC Communications officer Pamela Jepkemei said Ju will appear at the Machakos Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday, and Yabin on Friday.
