The build up to the landmark concert resulted in East FM raising the bar very high for events yet to come. From the get go, the atmosphere was charged, concert goers twitching in anticipation of what was to come at the Parklands Sports Club, the event venue.
A huge marquee was pitched with plenty of seating but most importantly a large open space for dancing near the stage. Revellers felt they got full value for money and were thrilled to be upclose at the centre of the action and not herded at the back to watch on screens.
When megastar Farhan Akhtar arrived, the full house responded with amazing enthusiasm. Accompanied by his fabulous band, Farhan showed his prowess as an extraordinary live performer, belting out both new and familiar songs. Shanon Donald, his accompanying artist also lived up to his billing.
Farhan then mixed poetry from Zindai Na Milegi Dobara penned by his father Javed Akhtar, with song, a blend echoing his incredible talent of both acting and performing.
To catch a breath, he did a few stretches and many push ups on stage to get both the audience and himself going. That was a rare treat for the crowd.
When the inspirational Zindah dedicated to Milkha Singh came on, the crowd went wild, which was then followed by Havan Karenge.
After his last song, the crowd begged for an encore and Farhan did not disappoint. He came back on stage performing Dil Chahta Hai and a couple other numbers. He threw in his rendition of Them Mushrooms Hakuna Matata and the crowd joined in.
All in all, East FM managed to pull off a most enjoyable and high-energy concert, well managed by the events team. Kudos!
