I remember the first time I saw Kapil Sharma’s performance in Comedy Circus as a participant. I laughed so hard that I had tears running down my cheeks. After that I started looking forward to his performances on the show and was glad that they started slotting his performance last; because we all know we like to save the best for last. Eventually, Kapil decided to do his own gig on television and came up with Comedy Nights with Kapil.
Last week I watched a trailer for his new movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. Kapil has been very excited about his upcoming film because he has used every opoortunity to plug it, including the Filmfare awards. The movie was directed by Abbas-Mustan and the 34-year-old is very pleased that his debut film is being made by this duo. The story is about a man, his three wives and a girlfriend, which is complicated but fun, according to Kapil.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon also features Manjari Phadnis, Amrita Puri, Elli Avram, Simran Kaur Mundi, Arbaaz Khan and Varun Sharma.
Sukhbir was never detained in Lahore
Pakistani media might have had a low news day when they decided that Indian pop singer Sukhbir (pictured above) was detained by authorities because he tried to evade arrest. I was in Dubai last week and caught up with him to get the story and he explained nothing of that sort had transpired. Sukhbir said he had a morning flight on August 9 from Lahore, coming back to Dubai where he is based, and asked if it was permissible to carry a little over the USD10,000 allowed with him. The authorities at the airport were in fact very helpful indeed and said, “Sardarji, unfortunately we are not allowed to permit any amounts exceeding USD10,000”.
Sukhbir went back to his hotel and caught a later flight in the early hours of August 10, at 3am, from Lahore back to Dubai and the whole process was smooth and had no incidences at all.
Sukhbir is a household name in Kenya having lived here from childhood until he went abroad looking for greener pastures to give his career the support and boost it deserved. Today, Kenyans revel at Sukhbir’s success abroad and Sukhbir has a strong fondness for Kenya. He has promised to come ‘home’ soon and perform as soon as he can confirm. You will hear of it first on Just Bollywood.

40 Years on, I’m still Basanti, says Hema Malini
Last week, the epic movie Sholay celebrated 40 years of success and Hema Malini said she was proud about the fact that she was a part of this film.
She played the role of Basanti in the 1975 iconic film, and said that people refer to her by her on-screen name even today, which makes her feel nostalgic.
The 66-year-old actress-politician added that she is proud about the fact that she was a part of Sholay, which also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, and her husband Dharmendra. It was directed by Ramesh Sippy.
