Rakhi Sawant, who has many a controversy tied to her name, says she will not tolerate being compared to actress Sunny Leone. She would rather be compared to the likes of Jennifer Lopez or Madonna.
The rather outspoken and blunt Rakhi who abhors any comparison with porn star-turned-actress Sunny was asked by media people if her comeback song would give Sunny a run for her money.
To that Rakhi said, “Please don’t compare me to Sunny Leone because I have achieved (my popularity) by dancing, performing, doing reality shows and also by winning hearts of the audiences. I never did any adult film or anything else to achieve this. I hope you all understand.”
She was also clear about whom she wants to be compared with.
“I am glamorous and very much upfront. I think you can compare me to Jennifer Lopez, Madonna,” said Rakhi, who has grooved to songs like Pardesia and Dekhta hai tu kya. She has also featured in films like Main Hoon Naa.
Sholay released 40 years later
When you think of the movie Sholay, you think of Jai and Veeru; you laugh like Gabbar and mimic his dialogues; you stutter like Kaalia before he is shot and you tap your foot to Mehbooba Mehbooba with Helen dancing away to the song. You also think that just about everyone in this world must have watched this Ramesh Sippy-directed action film, which is considered an all time blockbuster of India Cinema.
You’d be wrong because after 40 years since its release, Sholay finally debuted in Pakistan with a grand premiere in Karachi.
“Sholay has its legion of fans in Pakistan including the generation which grew old watching Indian movies on VCR’s when it was illegal to screen them in Pakistan,” film critic Omair Alavi told PTI.
“We have heard so much about the movie from our parents and older relatives so for them to watch the movie for the first time on the big screen in 3D and 2D is an unforgettable experience,” he said.
Nadeem Mandviwalla, the exporter and distributor of the film in Pakistan, said he was expecting Sholay to generate good business.
“Even though we have some top releases on May 1 including Avengers: Age of Ultron but Sholay will continue to draw its audiences because of its evergreen effect,” he said.
People are fainting!
You can be forgiven for thinking that since the star of the movie is Hrithik Roshan in Mohenjo Daro many people on set keep passing out but that’s not the real reason first aid is being administered on set.
“The film is going very well. The shooting is progressing fantastically. We are working very hard, in the middle of dust storms. It is a tough shoot. People are fainting on the sets. But we are at it.”
Hrithik won the ‘Brand visionary of the year’ award at the Colors Party on Saturday and he adjudged it as the best award that he had ever won in life. “It means a lot to me. It means more to me than any other award that I have got so far in my life. We are all here to contribute to the world in many ways. I do it through films, brand endorsements. It is all good,” Hrithik said.
Mohenjo Daro is an epic love story, set during the Indus Valley Civilization jointly produced by Disney India’s Studio business and Ashutosh Gowariker Production Pvt. Ltd. (AGPPL) The film will mark the debut of model Pooja Hegde who will be playing the female lead.
