We all remember when Amitabh Bachchan (Lambuji – Tall guy) and Rishi Kapoor (Tinguji – Shortie) came together for a fun song in Coolie, poking fun at their heights. It looks like history is repeating itself except that this time Rishi will appear with Abhishek Bachchan in All Is Well. Rishi, who has recently got himself the blue tick verification for his official Twitter account, took to the microblogging site.
He posted: “Tinguji goes next generation Lambuji-Tradition continues with Abhishek Bachchan. In All is Well.” Earlier Abhishek, 39, had praised Kapoor, tweeting:
“What an honour to be able work with @chintskap daily... everyday is a masterclass in acting! Love you Chintu uncle. Every moment spent with you is not only entertainment but so educational. I hope some of the talent rubs off on me.”
The romantic family film is directed by Umesh Shukla of OMG - Oh My God! fame and also stars Asin and Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles. It is expected to release on July 3.
Katrina Kaif for ‘Raajneeti 2’ but without Ranbir Kapoor
In an earlier interview also, director Prakash Jha has confirmed Katrina’s presence, but he was unsure of Ranbir’s role. Katrina Kaif, who recently unveiled her wax statue at the Madame Tussauds in London, is all set to return with ‘Raajneeti 2’, but it will not star Katrina’s love interest in the first movie and in real life– Ranbir Kapoor.
In an earlier interview also, director Prakash Jha has confirmed Katrina’s presence in the sequel of the 2010 movie, but he was unsure of Ranbir’s role. So the non-inclusion of the heartthrob doesn’t come as a surprise.
Reports say that Ranbir Kapoor, whose character Samar Pratap Singh, leaves India after a messy succession battle which ends with the death of his partner, will stay away from politics. The climax of ‘Raajneeti’ revealed that Indu, a reluctant entrant into politics that time, was pregnant with her deceased husband Prithviraj Pratap Singh’s (Arjun Rampal) child. Part 2 will be her journey.”
While ‘Raajneeti’ borrowed its plot from Sonia Gandhi’s entry to politics, the sequel will look at the recent power shift in the country, beginning with Indu embracing the position of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Kalki and Anurag headed for splitsville
Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap, who met and fell in love on the set of Dev D and eventually got married, are headed for divorce. The couple have been separated from each other for the past two years and now they’re headed to the courts to make it official.
“Right now, I am in a good space. Last year was a little bit more of a struggle, as I didn’t know where I was going. I wasn’t sure where my relationship with Anurag was going. All of it was unclear. Now, we are pretty clear that we are not going to be together. We have already applied for divorce and will get it soon,” Kalki said.
In 2013, Kalki and Anurag announced they were separating in a joint statement. Gossip placed the blame for the rift on Anurag’s Gangs of Wasseypur actress Huma Qureshi.
Kalki, however, rubbished the rumours, tweeting: “Jesus Christ can we please leave Huma alone?! My problems with Anurag have nothing to do with her!” Kalki’s Margarita With A Straw, in which she plays a young wheelchair-bound woman exploring her sexuality, releases on April 17. The Anurag Kashyap-directed Bombay Velvet will hit theatres on May 15.
Shooting halted due to floods
Almost seventy percent of the Salman Khan movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan has been shot. The crew decided to wrap up the film’s final scenes in Kashmir but there seems to be trouble as Kashmir is flooded again, thus causing delays in the schedules. According to a report, the Jhelum River has crossed the mark due to continuous rains which has affected areas like Srinagar. The police have started rescue operations and have alerted people living around the area to re-locate.
On the other hand, Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s cast and crew who were supposed to start shooting since April 9, have put the film on hold and are trying to gauge the situation in order to receive a clarification on how to proceed further with the remaining shoot. The crew was supposed to shoot some high octane stunts, war sequences and even a song picturised amidst the beautiful valley, which has now faced a delay until the situation in Kashmir comes under control.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan stars Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead and is said to be the story of Bajrangi (Salman) and his relationship with a Pakistani girl who mistakenly crosses the Indo-Pak border and finds herself alone on the other side of the line. Produced by Salman Khan and Eros International, the film is slated to release on July 16.
