Do Leopards have the ammunition to stop soldiers? Yes

Ulinzi Stars Vs AFC Leopards Today 3:45pm

My Prediction: Ulinzi 1-2 Ingwe

Its early days yet in the Kenyan Premier League 2015 season but AFC Leopards look to be starting on the right foot on the pitch despite issues off it.

Rumours have surfaced that Ingwe are having issues with money and that their sponsor Mumias Sugar is backing off for a bit, but Mumias officials deny this. They say despite reports on the company not doing too well at corporate level, their financial support for AFC Leopards has not wavered. Players however, voice a different story saying their salaries are being delayed and that their match bonus for beating Nakuru All Stars 3-1 midweek was a “whooping” Sh300 each. Despite that they sit joint second on the log with Bandari after three matches, although the Coastal side has played an extra game. Gor Mahia of course are top but there is still a long way to go. If Ingwe can keep their disgruntled star players happy, and stop off the off the pitch politics, then they can go far this season.

Ulinzi Stars under coach Robert Matano, who we all know can be very fiery, haven’t started well considering they were champions just the other day. They have been dropping consistently since they won the league in 2010 and this season they’ve only picked up three points in three games – from a win over Western Stima last week. They lost to Tusker midweek and Sony Sugar on the opening day of the season. But again I say early days. Afraha stadium is always a difficult place for an away team – although Sony beat them there. The fans in Nakuru really turn out to support them. This will be a tough game but I think AFC have the edge in talent and momentum.

City Stars Vs Tusker Tomorrow 4:15pm

My Prediction: City Stars 1-3 Tusker

City Stars had a tough time in Kisumu midweek losing 2-1 to ten man Western Stima. Stars had a player punched in the face earning Stima the red card. But I feel that this whole mess between FKF and KPL, which is hopefully over, has been harsh on City Stars. They were relegated at the end of last season so they both lost players and didn’t recruit to play in the top flight, but then found themselves back through strange circumstances. So they are way over their heads in this and should really be playing in the Super League. Tusker meanwhile have had a shaky start to the season winning one game, losing one and drawing one. Coach Francis Kimanzi has a great line-up but I don’t understand why he isn’t getting the desired results consistently. I must say the league so far has been difficult for all teams because of the start-stop-start thanks to football management infighting, but I do hope that Kimanzi’s troops settle once the league settles; and it has begun to settle. On paper this is Manchester City Vs Burnley, but we all know what happened there. Since Kimanzi gives City Stars more respect than City gave Burnley, I see Goliath triumphing here.
