It's a walk in the park for Gunners against Newcastle as Cisse is still banned

Newcastle vs Arsenal, Today 6pm,

My Prediction: Magpies..1 Gunners...3

What’s happened to Newcastle of late? There was a time this season when they picked themselves up and started to get some pretty decent results. But of late, it’s been tough for them. They’ve lost five of their last ten matches including a 3-0 loss to Everton last weekend and a 5-0 thrashing by Manchester City about a month ago. A 1-0 loss to Man United is somewhere in the middle as well. The good news for Arsenal today is that Papiss Cisse is still banned so we won’t have him troubling our defence. The other good news is that the Gunners are in pretty good form. We played like champs in Monaco midweek but it’s a pity that consistency is such a problem for us. That’s me lamenting about us being tossed out of the Champions League. Anyway, the playing unit is fired up now and I know we have a chance of overtaking second-placed Manchester City in the log. The prospect of our best finish in years is gnawing at us so it’s all serious play from here until the final whistle on the last day of the season. We just need a repeat of the Monaco second leg performance and the Magpies will be minced meat by the end of the game.

Liverpool vs Man United, Tomorrow 4:30pm,

My Prediction: Reds..... 2 Red Devils..... 1

Haha! This is a game that will determine which of these two teams will finish the season in the top four. Every prediction I’ve heard has Chelsea—obviously—Arsenal and Man City in the top four but the fourth team moves from Liverpool to Man United after that. Two points separate the two teams with United currently in the top four but Liverpool have not lost a game since Christmas. In fact, they have picked up more points than any other team since the turn of the year and I don’t see Brendan Rodgers’ side slowing down any time soon. The only way Liverpool can climb up the table is if they beat teams above them and United are arguably the most likely to lose to Liverpool amongst those teams. The Reds also still have to play Arsenal and Chelsea, but wins in those matches are unlikely. Yes, I’m writing this with a serious look on my face. United put up an impressive display last Sunday against Tottenham but Spurs were quite useless in that game. I wouldn’t rush to say “United is back” because they beat QPR 4-0 way back in September and everyone thought that things would get better after that; they didn’t. The truth is that LVG is still feeling in the dark and coming up against such a confident Scouser side will be tough. And we all know how hard it is to play at Anfield.

Hull vs Chelsea Sunday 7pm

My Prediction: Hull 1-3 The Blues

Anyone can draw with Chelsea right now even Hull City, who are having a rather difficult season. Last weekend, Chelsea struggled against Southampton at Stamford Bridge and the Blues seem to be losing steam. They are so lucky, however, that their gap at the top of the standings is up to six points with a game in hand; and that Man City are slipping as well. However, Chelsea do still have to play Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool so that gap at the top won’t look so cozy if we all do our job against them. Anyway, now that the league is all that they’re concentrating on, manager Jose Mourinho will give them a fine kick in the “derriere”. I’m sure he wasn’t pleased about the Southampton result but Hull is a small team that shouldn’t trouble them much. Diego Costa is a fighter and Cesc Fabregas knows that he needs to step up as well and try and find his earlier season form again. As much as Chelsea are fumbling, I don’t think Hull will trouble them much; besides Chelsea is no longer living in fear of City catching up, but they do fear the current form of Arsenal. Yeah, I had to throw that in!
