Liverpool Vs West Ham Today 6pm
My Prediction: The Reds 2-2 The Hammers
Arsene Wenger’s position of being the premier league’s biggest scout is under threat from Brendan Rodgers. The Liverpool manager has been eyeing players to buy despite it being obvious what he needs. Daniel Sturridge is close to Liverpool return. In fact reports have it that he’ll be in the line up against the Hammers today. That will be a bit of a nosedive in but it’s what Liverpool need right now. I must say they are going through a decent patch though. They’re unbeaten in their last six games, which includes four wins. That’s probably why Rodgers is debating whether he really needs to add to his squad. They fell out of the League Cup this week and will use that experience to do well in their next league tie. West Ham have had a pretty decent season, especially considering they are ahead of Liverpool in the standings and by a point. But the Hammers have struggled against big opposition. Their last two losses were against Chelsea and Arsenal. This is a tough game but just like most big teams in the league, Liverpool have suffered home losses, so I don’t think being at Anfield will intimidate Sam Allardyce’s men. This game looks like it’s going to be a draw.
Manchester United Vs Leicester Today 6pm
My Prediction: The Red Devils 3-1 Leicester
Manchester United have a bone to pick with Leicester, who are bottom of the league. Who can forget that embarrassing outing where United were disciplined 5-3 by the team that can’t seem to beat many teams in the league this season. They did however have a good FA Cup outing last weekend, coming from a goal down to knock Tottenham out of the competition. So there’s something lurking there. Unfortunately when Leicester played United in the first half of the season it was a Red Devil side struggling to find form. Even though LVG is still getting a lot of criticism for his 3-5-2 formation, he is beginning to get some results in the league. Their last ten matches are only soiled by that loss to Southampton, although no-one can quite explain what happened against Cambridge in the FA Cup last weekend. But strange things happen in football and I don’t think United will make another mistake against Leicester. They can’t afford to and since they won’t underestimate them, they can’t lost this one. That’s what I said in their game against Southampton.
Chelsea Vs Manchester City Today 8.30pm
My prediction: The Blues 3-1 The Citizens
This is a tie I’m looking forward to because one or both of these top two teams have to drop points here. I really don’t care which one drops points although based on recent form it’s more likely to be Manchester City. Both clubs had an embarrassing FA Cup outing last weekend with Bradford becoming the first team to score four goals against a Jose Mourinho led Chelsea; while City were dumped out of the tournament by Middlesbrough; who look likely to climb back into the Premier League next season. Chelsea bounced back to edge Liverpool to reach the League Cup final but that may see them suffering from fatigue. Mourinho was gobsmacked after their FA Cup exit and he needs to feel like a man again. Beating Man City and further extending the gap at the top will boost his ego a lot! City failed to beat Arsenal at home and last week summed up a dismal two week period for them. They are clearly missing Yaya Toure but there’s more to their poor form than just the Ivorian. Toure alone wouldn’t have made the different between them and Liverpool; and an on fire Arsenal the week before that; so Manuel Pellegrini probably needs a psychiatrist to come in on this one.
Arsenal Vs Aston Villa Sunday 430pm
My Prediction: The Gunners 3-1 Villa
Arsenal are on fire! After beating Man City we have never quite come back down to earth have we? And I’m loving this feeling. Even though we struggled to hold onto the 3-2 lead against Brighton on Sunday, it wasn’t easy. Another five minutes and we would have been as depressed as Chelsea and Liverpool. But we held on; and I’m beginning to really admire the resolve in the Gunner’s team right now. The resolve to work hard and longer; and hang in there even when the going get’s tough. Tomas Rosicky is in superb form. Although I’ve always been a big fan of his, Arsene Wenger has chosen to play him sparingly. Santi Cazorla didn’t play last weekend but he’s looking good now. Gabriel Paulista has landed although I still have a lot of confidence in Francis Coquelin. We’re looking good in all positions and the results will continue to flow. I know that. Aston Villa haven’t won in seven matches, with losses to Liverpool, Leicester, Swansea and West Brom amongst those seven. They don’t have anything that will rattle the Gunners and I’m looking forward to another flashy display from my Mbuoys!
