Deputy President William Ruto yesterday told leaders to stop divisive politics and instead direct their energies in uniting the people.
Ruto said some politicians are busy castigating the Jubilee government but forget that they equally have a responsibility to discharge their mandates by serving the citizens.
“Those engaging in divisive politics should know the same has been past by events. They should concentrate their energies to serving the people,” he said.
The DP was speaking at Nyansiongo Catholic Church in Borabu constituency during a special offering.
He said he and Presient Uhuru Kenyatta resolved to work together in uniting Kenyans.
“We are not ready to engage in politics that cannot help the country realise the Vision 2030,” Ruto said.
He was accompanied by Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso, Kericho Senator Charles Keter and nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi.
MPs Ben Momany (Borabu) Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Elijah Moindi (Nyaribari Masaba) and Joseph Kiangoi of the East Africa Legislative Assembly were also present.
During the mass led by Kisii Diocese Vicah General Jeremial Nyakundi, Ruto urged Christians to be at the forefront in preaching peace.
“We want Kenyans to live like brothers and sisters,” he said.
Nyagarama assured Ruto he will work closely with the national government for development.
