UoN wins Sh91 million global health prize

The University of Nairobi yesterday received a share of $1 million (Sh91 million) Global Healthcare Innovation Award.

The university showed commitment through a project to stop child deaths through bar-coded vaccination.

The innovation dubbed University of Nairobi Vaccination Project was successfully piloted in Mt Elgon.

It becomes one of the four African initiatives to win a share of the 2014 GlaxoSmithKline and Save the Children Healthcare Innovation Award.

Africa GSK vice president Ramil Burden presented the award at Intercontinental hotel.
