The best Liverpool can do against equally poor Everton in Merseyside derby today is a draw

Liverpool Vs Everton, Today 2:45pm,

My Prediction: Reds... 2 Toffees....2

Liverpool are in trouble; even Manager Brendan Rodgers admits that though he is confident that matters will turn around quickly. Liverpool have lost three out of their last four games, and the 4th one saw them win after scoring a total of goals to Middlesbrough’s 15. Two league losses in a row to West Ham and Aston Villa has seen them move to page two in the standings; and everyone at Anfield is deeply concerned. It’s generally worrying when you think that Daniel Sturridge’s absence is the only common fact to their poor run. You would expect Liverpool to rely on more than just the one player so heavily; but I guess that’s what you get when you let Luis Suarez leave you. But Sturridge is expected back for the Merseyside derby today and that could be a major boost. Everton aren’t doing any better than their Liverpool rivals with just five points out of five games played and sitting 14th on the log. But even though both these sides are struggling, they always seem to rise up to the occasion during the Merseyside derby. We can expect fireworks; perhaps a red card or two; and eventually a draw.

Chelsea Vs Aston Villa, Today 5pm,

My Prediction: Blues....2 Villagers..... 2

Chelsea are the most annoying team in the league right now. When they play well they get a result and when they play poorly they get a result. They were quite poor against Manchester City last weekend, particularly in the first half, but they still managed to leave there with a point. Jose Mourinho was hurt by Frank Lampard’s goal but refused to acknowledge it. It was quite funny. But they still held on to the top spot in the league and I don’t believe they have any intention of slowing down. Villa, however, have been quite inconsistent. They beat Liverpool two weeks ago and then crumbled against Arsenal in just eleven minutes of play last weekend; only to keep fighting to ensure that they didn’t concede another goal. They can be fighters but are rather inconsistent. About ten days ago Schalke show the Blues that Stamford Bridge isn’t as scary a fort as English teams make it out to be and that Chelsea can drop points there. If Villa come with that fighting attitude, they can at least get a point. Their job will be focused around closing down Diego Costa who will definitely score in this game; the question is just how many. Costa is such a hard and talented worker that he cannot be stopped easily. He will not be stopped today; we just need to see how many times Villa can respond.

Man United Vs West Ham, Today 5pm,

My Prediction: Devils...2 Hammers.....4

Manchester United. Mmh! Yes that is a complete sentence. Manchester United. There is so much can go into that phrase if you allow your mind to take control. Leicester City. Yes that is another complete sentence. And to make it a paragraph you can just say “Leicester City Versus Manchester United.” Okay let me get serious. I don’t know what happened to the Red Devils on Sunday. It’s so easy to blame poor refereeing but the last two goals that United conceded were clear and simple. And they displayed a very serious problem at the back. I go back to the question why Louis Van Gaal let Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra leave the club; and at the same time. If he was trying to make a statement about getting rid of old guards, it has clearly back-fired on him. Those two in particular still have a lot to offer the world of defending and it was a stupid move. I predicted win for United against Leicester and I’m tempted to do the same today because my predictions are usually the other way around, but I want to be serious this weekend and really predict what I feel will happen. And that is a loss. West Ham were superb against Liverpool last weekend and they will not feel cowed going to the Theatre of Nightmares. If Leicester can beat the mighty Red Devils then The Hammers can crush them. Sorry Great Roy, but just start crying now.

Arsenal Vs Tottenham, Today 7:30pm

My Prediction: Gunners...3 Spurs...1

Of course I’ll predict a win for the Gunners today because we are playing well – when our first team is in action. And we know our first team will be in action today; although I’m not sure who our first team striker is. Mid week was a blunder as I explained in Gunpoint yesterday. It wasn’t such a weak team but a big portion of players who aren’t allowed to play regularly and who obviously lose form as a result of “bench warming.” Today we’re fired up! Our North London pretender rivals are having a poor season. Just like Man United; after beating QPR 4-0 they felt that their dreams of being title contenders were valid. But alas! There’s only one Lupita Nyong’o and she doesn’t live in North London. Spurs don’t know what they’re doing or where they are going. Seven points in five games is dismal. Last weekend they lost to West Brom and the weekend before they drew 2-2 with Sunderland. Beating Nottingham Forest midweek was nothing to write home about so I hope they aren’t banking on that win to boost their challenge against the mighty Arsenal. I’m actually banking on Danny Welbeck to get back on the score-sheet today; along with Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey. Are you with me on this?
