Burnley Vs Manchester United Today 2:45pm
My Prediction Burnely 1-4 The Red Devils
If it was any other season I would have predicted a walk over for Manchester United, but this is a very unique season. A season that has seen The Red Devils fall 4-0 to MK Dons in the League Cup. Yes I agree that Louis Van Gaal didn’t play his two star strikers but that’s all that was missing on Tuesday. Which means if Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie were playing in the League Cup, they probably would have scored a few but they still would have conceded four. Van Gaal hasn’t added enough to his squad for a competitive league season and even if he makes some additions between now and Monday’s deadline, it won’t affect this game. Burnley are newbies and yet to win their first game in the top flight. They faced Chelsea on the opening weekend and that was a baptism of fire. After they opened the scoring, Chelsea retaliated with three quick replies. Last weekend they had a narrow loss to Swansea which shows that their season is getting better. They are fearless but lack top quality players to compete against some of the best in the league; but then again right now United are no where near the best in the league. Burnley’s goal against Chelsea showed they can score and given that United have a weaker defence than The Blues, Burnley will score. The question is how many times will United reply by hitting the back of the net? I’m guessing that RVP and Rooney won’t be very nice today. It’s up to the two of them to lift the team and today I believe they’ll do it! A brace each I imagine!
Everton Vs Chelsea Today 730pm
My Prediction: The Toffees 3-3 The Blues
Former Chelsea Vs Chelsea. Any fan of Samuel Eto’o and Romelu Lukaku will be thinking what I’m thinking. Wouldn’t it be nice if the two former Blues players scored a couple of goals against their former employer? If only to show that they should never had got rid of them. Lukaku has been amazing for Everton during his loan spell and is likely to step it up a notch now that he is a confirmed Toffee. Eto’o is a player with nine lives. He may not have had his best year at Chelsea but we all know what he can do on a good day – just ask Man United supporters. Everton had a great 80 minutes last week at Goodison Park against Arsenal but then went to sleep. And we all know how that ended. If they give Chelsea such a chance they are finished! And they won’t be so lucky to walk away with a point, they’ll just lose. I think Roberto Martinez will have a word with the guys to let them know that the game aint over until the fat lady sings. He’s brought in Eto’o who comes with a little fear factor. PS I’m just glad that Eto’o was brought in after our game last weekend. I’m keen to see how Eto’o and Diego Costa compete to see who can score more goals; and this time will have many!
Tottenham Vs Liverpool Sunday 330pm
My prediction: Spurs 1-3 The Reds
Spurs have had a flying start to the season although in my view, the real competition for them begins today. They had to wait until injury time to get their opening day victory over West Ham, but last weekend they were on fire; drumming four past QPR with no reply. They certainly have the pedigree but then again so do Liverpool. The Reds secured a shaky win against Southampton on opening day but last week they were made to suffer in Manchester; losing 3-1 to Manuel Pellegrini’s men. That was sobering for a Reds team that’s been on a high since they finished last season in second place. But of course new signing Mario Balotelli wasn’t legible to play last week but will definitely be in Brendan Rodger’s plans this weekend. Critics have been asking how he and Daniel Sturridge will play on the same pitch but then again how did Sturridge play with Luis Suarez on one pitch? I think they’ll complement each other; infact with the Italian being such a “lazy” player, the hard work rate of his support players like Sturridge and Raheem Sterling will fill in the blanks. I actually think Spurs are on for a tough game tomorrow.
Leicester Vs Arsenal Sunday 6pm
My Prediction: Leicester 0-4 The Gunners
On paper critics think this will be tough because Olivier Giroud is out, but it will only be tough because Arsene Wenger will likely start Yaya Sanogo upfront instead of a player like Joel Campbell. Alexis Sanchez was pretty good upfront in the midweek Champions League tie, but I still feel he needs a sharp shooter ahead of him. Sanchez covers a lot of ground and serves me better playing just behind a striker. I never celebrate a player’s injury but I must admit that Giroud’s case should now force Wenger to go out and shop before Monday midnight. We also have Lukas Podolski who is great up front but who Wenger has never really given a chance to play there. So many options in Arsenal but so many poor decisions from the manager. Leicester drew 2-2 with Everton on opening day and lost 2-0 to Chelsea last weekend, and I don’t believe they want to be the whipping boys of the season. So we have the Everton result in common but if I learnt anything from the home match against Besiktas, the Gunners have heart and luck. This game won ‘t be easy but I’m sure that it’s one of those games that Wenger has lectured the boys about; saying that we should not lose small games this season. Effectively this is a small game, but I think we can use it as a confidence booster; to get an amazing result and improve our goal difference.
