Wenger finally delivered a cup but I say he should still go.

We won silverware; yes we did! Arsenal are FA Cup Champions! It just sounds odd saying that Arsenal are Champions of anything; odd but good.

Oh so good! All those people who have been counting the bare years can now be silenced! Hopefully not for another nine years. It’s been six days since we lifted the FA Cup so I have had time to calm down and come back to earth – yeah I was floating on Cloud Nine for a while there.

And event though this isn’t what many Arsenal fans want to hear right now, but I still think manager Arsene Wenger must go! He has got a big club like ours just one trophy in nine years and unless he is going to change his way of doing business, he should just leave us alone so that we can employ a more ambitious manager.

We cannot continue with business as usual and expect to build off this FA Cup win. Infact we struggled in that final against a small team like Hull City.

What if we were playing Manchester City or Chelsea; we would not have been celebrating right now. We were not good in the final. We were too nervous and missed too many chances. We committed the cardinal sin, allowing the opposition to score two goals so early in the game, forcing ourselves to chase it.

That’s the kind of game we should have won in the first half. If Steve Bruce had studied Jose Mourinho’s tactics of killing off a game he would have known how to park the bus after he was two goals ahead. Luckily we weren’t up against a Mourinho.

Wenger has us leaving too much to chance and a big club like ours deserves better. I know many fans are wary of a botched up succession plans but don’t compare us with Manchester United on that front. I will never understand why Sir Alex recommended David Moyes to succeed him.

If you look at Moyes’ CV and look at Louis Van Gaal’s, you have to ask why they didn’t target a Van Gaal type manager in the first place. Arsenal should just look for a manager with a great CV and bring him in. Look at what Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has managed to achieve.

In two seasons he has won the Europa Cup and now the La Liga trophy which appeared to be the reserve of Barcelona and Real Madrid. And whether or not he conquers the European continent tomorrow, he has achieved in two season with Atletico what Wenger has only managed to do once in his 18 years at Arsenal.

And that is a Champions league final appearance. We need to bite the bullet and invest in our coaching staff. We also need to beef up some areas of our squad before the next season starts. If Wenger stays, and obviously he will despite my wishes, I hope he scouts well at the World Cup – since he is often a BBC Radio analyst there. And come July, I hope he signs quickly long before the season kicks off. Sadly this all sounds like déjà vu; the same song I was singing 12 months ago. Only this time, we have scraped through to get silverware.

Next season though, I want the League or the Champions League. Talk to me on @CarolRadull on twitter or www.facebook.com/CarolRadull
