Nawazuddin Siddiqui's new film Miss Lovely, directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, will finally see the light of day, releasing with just a few minor cuts. Nawaz feels it is a victory of his director, who ensured the film didn't lose its essence as he continued his struggle with the Censor Board of Film Certification.
The objection cropped up because Miss Lovely is based on the sleazy world of C-grade cinema prevalent in the 80s. The censors had initially demanded as many as 157 cuts.
"Ashim was hell-bent on ensuring that the scenes are not deleted just because the board found it unsuitable. He fought with board members to make them understand the fundamental mood of the film and finally convinced them. The film will be released with only two or three cuts, which will not rob it of its taste," says the actor, stressing that unnecessarily chopping scenes would have "killed the film". Set in the 80s, the film stars newbie Niharika Singh in the central role and is slated for a January 17 release with an 'Adults only' certification after four rounds of reviews by the CBFC.
The censors had made demands to tone down the language and snip away some nudity.
HEARTBREAK FOR JOHN ABRAHAM FANS
If you have a mad crush on John Abraham and are waiting for him to sweep you off your feet and propose to you, I’m sorry but your dreams have just been shattered. After a web of controversies post his break-up with Bipasha Basu, it took quite some time for John to be open about his relationship with girlfriend Priya Runchal. And now after being haunted with speculations for more than a year, it is confirmed that John recently tied the knot with Priya at a rather private ceremony in Los Angeles this New Year.
John's dad, an architect by profession, revealed that this wedding was pre-planned and that the two preferred a simple court marriage that didn’t involve too many rituals and traditions. While none of his friends from the industry have been a part of this wedding, they took on to twitter to wish the actor. "Congrats @TheJohnAbraham .. Wish u and Priya all the happiness in the world!! God bless..Lots of love! :)" tweeted Sophie Choudry.
Shoojit Sircar, one of John's closest pals too wasn't a part of the wedding but was aware of the developments. He also claimed that John and Priya are private people and hence preferred to keep their wedding a low-key affair.
Priya is an investment banker and financial analyst and is currently in the US pursuing higher studies.
BIG LETS HIS HAIR DOWN, SWAPS SUITS FOR TRUNKS
Amitabh Bachchan decided to have some fun by the sea as he discarded the embroidered sherwanis and crisp designer suits for a pair of swimming trunks and vest. He shared a few pictures on his social networking site and his delighted fans gave him a huge approval for his frolicking and antics by the sea. Bachchan posted these pictures of him taking a jet ski ride and didn’t disclose the location and our guess is that this place definitely was secluded. There doesn’t seem to be a plethora of fans milling in the background.
Bachchan also posted, “My hesitant attempts at JetSkying on waters of the sea .. later of course I was zipping around at 60 mph ..” and also added later, “Out in the sun … out of the water .. out of a jet ski .. out on a limb … !!” His enthusiasm was infectious and his fans on his social media pages were delighted with these updates.
SUCHITRA SEN ON VENTILATOR
We know this actress mostly from her film Aandhi with Sanjeev Kumar and that melodious tune ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se Shikwa Toh Nahi’. Sadly Suchitra Sen is admitted in an ICU following respiratory problems. Suchitra, who has been away from Bollywood for over three decades, was admitted to the hospital on December 23 following a respiratory infection.
Though later, her condition was said to be stable, a few days ago, doctors expressed their concern over her fluctuating heartbeats and oxygen saturation.
Her physician Dr Subrata Maitra revealed that Suchitra has been put on a non-invasive ventilation system and it was a step that was taken only with the consent of other family members. We wish her a speedy recovery.
