Atleast 10,000 people will be attending Kenya's 60th Madaraka celebrations in Embu County.
As early as 4 am, gates at the Moi Stadium in Embu were opened to allow members of the public settle down ahead of the celebrations.
This will be William Ruto's first Madaraka Day celebrations since he was sworn in as President last year.

"I would like the president to address the issue of high food prices, as a man it is hard to work on an empty stomach and perform family duties since there is no enough food and we are unemployed."

"I am a strong supporter of Kenya Kwanza and l am not against the increment of food prices but we need a source of living so as to afford basic needs and be able to pay taxes."
Susan Wangari, Kangemi Kibagare slums:
"I expect the president to address the issue of the high cost of living, l voted for him because he promised to take care of mama mboga and boda-boda guys.
" Also, getting proper medication is very expensive, especially for people like me that are diabetic, l expect the president to look into the matter."
