President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Kenyans to follow the example of Brian and Brenda, Kenya's recovered coronavirus patients.

Uhuru spoke when he held a live video chat with the two recovered patients identified as Brenda and Brian who were at Afya House.

The two were accompanied by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

The President urged Kenyans not to be afraid to report if they are not feeling well.

"We can overcome this. We shouldn't be afraid to say if we are not ok. We appreciate Brenda and Briana. We are proud of you and thank God that you are well and will continue with your lives," he added.

Uhuru praised the first coronavirus patient, Brenda, saying she was brave in coming out and taking herself to the hospital once she became aware of the symptoms.

"Those who are feeling like they ain't feeling well, let's take the example of these two. You can be treated and recover from this virus," Uhuru said.

Uhuru also emphasized social distancing stating that it's not a joke especially for those who know they ain't feeling well.

"Let us all understand that these measures are meant to protect lives and keep Kenya safe. Let's keep in mind what we have been told by the Ministry of Health."

Uhuru said once the two are done with the doctors he would like to meet them personally at State House.

The President also apologised for the excessive force used by police officers at the start of the nationwide curfew that began last week.

This follows a public outcry over police brutality as Kenyans urged Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutayambai to rein in on his officers and ensure they do not violate basic human rights.
