Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has called for a speedy investigation into the death of Munyuki High School principal Simon Isiaho three weeks ago.

He faulted the DCI for delaying the investigations several weeks after the principal’s death.

"We will not bury the principal until we find answers to the questions we are asking," Barasa said.

He spoke during a fundraiser for Munyuki’s burial.

The governor questioned the circumstances that led to the recovery of the teacher’s body in the river after getting involved in an accident on a highway.

"We need to know why CCTV footage at the principal's house was interfered with. Why is it taking too long for this family and the teaching fraternity to get justice?" Barasa asked.

The principal's body was discovered floating on the Kipkaren River on November 8 after he was reported missing in unclear circumstances five days earlier.

His personal vehicle was found at an accident scene at Turbo along the Eldoret–Webuye highway later.

He is said to have left his home in Milimani early in the morning to collect KCSE English Composition paper from the Lugari deputy county commissioner office but never reached school.

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula urged the teaching fraternity to push for justice.

"Knut and Kuppet should be asking very tough questions following their colleague’s death. Teachers and all other professionals must be respected," he said.

Widow Salome Mukuna narrated a painstaking account of how events unfolded after the principal's disappearance.

"I was asked to go and find my husband and hand him over to the police because he had allegedly caused an accident in Turbo," she said.

She called on the investigative agencies to hasten the process of finding her husband's killers.
