Three women struck by lightning in Luanda

Three ladies from Luanda town were struck to death by lightning during heavy rains on Sunday evening.

The women had taken shelter under a shed along the road.

Their identities are yet to be revealed.

However, a few of the people who reached the scene said two are banana sellers in Luanda town and a middle-aged girl.

At the time of publication, security agents were yet to reach the scene.

Luanda OCPD David Ndirangu confirmed the incident.

Speaking to Star on phone he said he had been informed of the issue.

"I have been informed by the local authority that three people  have been killed by lightning during this evening's down pour," Ndirangu said.

"It's unfortunate that the three ladies had taken shade in a kiosk just beside the road," he added.

Their bodies are currently lying by the roadside behind the Triple T Hotel in Luanda subcounty.
