The Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Nark-Kenya leader Martha Karua have urged politicians to unite and serve Kenyans, saying elections are over.

The two who spoke in Kakamega on Saturday said it was time for leaders to put aside their political differences and focus on developing the country.

“We are saying the elections are over, let us hold hands together, let us walk together and serve the people of Kenya together and put behind us the political intrigues that come before an election,” Mudavadi urged.

The leaders spoke during Golden Jubilee celebrations of retired Reverent Bishop Emeritus Philip Sulumeti at Bukhungu Stadium.

Mudavadi said leaders have a common destiny to serve the people and revive the economy, something he said can only be achieved if they work together.

"On behalf of the government, I want to assure you that that is going to be our objective. I want to assure the Governor of Kakamega Fernandes Barasa that we shall work together so that we can give service to the people of this region,” Mudavadi said.

“Let us all be a united nation so that we can help those who need help most urgently.”

Karua said Kenya is enjoying a democratic space courtesy of the 2010 Constitution which Emeritus Bishop Sulumeti made immense contributions and the way to honour him was to safeguard the gains in that constitution.

“We must have unity in diversity and not unity in a single party and therefore all leaders need to cooperate from a position of their strength knowing it is the people who elected all these leaders across the country.

The national government needs the county government and vice versa,” she said.

“Therefore let’s work together with respect for each other while each one of us maintains their rightful position.”

Other leaders who attended the accession are governor Barasa, deputy Ayub Savula, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, and former senator Cleophas Malala.

MPs Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga), Titus Khamala (Lurambi), Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Malulu Injendi (Malava) and Omboko Milemba (Emuhaya), a host ofMembers of the county assembly among other leaders were also present.
