Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka has retained his seat after defeating his only challenger, Godfrey Kanoti, with a huge margin.

The MP garnered 28,156 votes against his opponent’s 4,673. Some 419 votes were rejected.

Khwisero returning officer Thomas Rotich said the constituency had 55,091 registered voters.

Aseka vied on the ODM ticket. Most candidates shied away from competing with him, reportedly due to his track record.

Kanoti vied on the ANC ticket.

The MP-elect thanked voters for giving him another chance.

He promised to commit most of his time to fulfilling his manifesto and the agenda he had set out during the campaign period.

Aseka was first elected to the 12th Parliament in 2017, after working in the public sector as a procurement officer at Nyeri Level 5 Hospital from 2004 to 2005.

Between 2005 and 2006 Aseka served as a procurement officer at Thika Level 5 Hospital before moving to the Nakuru government.

He was appointed as the head of supply chain in the department of Health from 2007 to 2016.

Aseka was a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in the 12th Parliament.
