- The Ford Kenya aspirant also asked civil servants at the county to stay neutral during the forthcoming polls.
Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has asked his opponents to prepare for a tough battle for Bungoma governor election on August 9.
Speaking during a stopover rally in Siboti ward, Bumula constituency, on Sunday, Lusaka told residents that he is back and ready to take over from where he left off during his first term as Bungoma governor.
He said during his tenure, he launched hundreds of projects that are beneficial to the people of Bungoma.
“During my term I had a lot of successful projects that helped uplift the living standards of residents of Bungoma county. I used to give 700 bags of fertiliser to vulnerable families per ward," Lusaka said.
“When I take over governance, I will ensure that the scholarship programme and bursaries run concurrently to accommodate everyone. We can't all have bright children,” he said.
Lusaka denied claims by his opponents that he will scrap scholarships if voted in as the county boss.
"I am not a mad man to abolish such a brilliant project. In fact, we will improve it and make it transparent to accommodate and benefit every student."
The Ford Kenya aspirant asked civil servants in the county to stay neutral, saying administrations come and go and there is no need to take sides.
“Let us be professional and not take sides as civil servants. I have worked as one before and I am speaking out of experience,” he said.
