Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has asked Deputy President William Ruto to resign from the government and focus on his presidential bid.

Speaking in Bumula Constituency during an Azimio la Umoja rally on Thursday, Eugene said Ruto cannot continue being in government and at the same time undermine his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta by badmouthing the same government.

"It's high time Ruto to move out of this government because he turned against it a long time ago. You cannot be part of the government and at the same time be criticising it," Eugene said.

The minister asked the Kenya Kwanza brigade to stop inciting Kenyans adding that the incitement by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders might push the country into chaos.

“Ruto is Uhuru’s principal assistant. I don't expect him to fault the government that he is part of, he should make a bold decision to either support Uhuru’s moves or resign,” he said.

Wamalwa added that recently the Azimio la Umoja team led by Cotu boss Francis Atwoli and other leaders held a consultative meeting and agreed to drum up support for ODM boss Raila Odinga.

“Anybody who is not in the Azimio La Umoja team from this region his/ her political future is dead, I want to assure you that the next government will be formed by Raila Odinga,” he said, adding that if Raila takes up as the president, Western Kenya will benefit fully.

Wamalwa also urged Bungoma residents to support Governor Wangamati’s re-election, arguing that the Lusaka team doesn’t have the capacity to deliver.

“I and Governor Wangamati are the ones who engaged CS Keriako Tobiko and President Uhuru Kenyatta to revoke the eviction of residents from Chetambe hills in Webuye, but we have seen some political brokers walking around telling residents that they are the ones who helped them,” he said.

He added that the presidential race is a two-horse race saying that the OKA coalition had no agenda to run for the top seat.

“Before Wetang’ula and Mudavadi parted ways with Kalonzo and Senator Moi I once told you that OKA will not reach the ballot. They were in the middle doing window shopping and be called in any of the team, Kenya Kwanza won’t form the government,” he said.

He asked Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka to go back to the senate and pass the Sugar Bill that was presented at the National Assembly by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi saying that the Senate has failed to pass the bill.

He affirmed that if the bill is passed sugar farmers will benefit adding that it will also solve delayed payment at Nzoia Sugar Company.

Bungoma Governor Wangamati told the press that Lusaka has no agenda of changing Bungoma, arguing that he is the only person who will take Bungoma to the next level.

“As I stand here today I am very courageous to say that I have delivered because my work speaks for itself, supporting my re-election so that we can work together,” Wangamati added.

Wangamati said that if elected for the second term, he will focus on initiating manufacturing companies.

He added that Mt. Elgon needs a Tomato industry that will improve the production of tomatoes in the region.

Also present during the rally was Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu, who is also DAP-K secretary general. He urged residents to drum up support for ODM leader Raila Odinga.
