Sirisia MP John Waluke on Tuesday said he is ready to face his opponents in the 2022 election.
The MP warned his rivals, who were celebrating that he would be jailed for 67 years, that he is now free to battle with them in next year's election.
Waluke and Grace Wakhungu were convicted of fraud involving Sh313 million in shady maize dealings with the National Cereal and Produce Board.
The MP, who is out on bond, said those who have been celebrating his predicament are in for a rude shock.
He said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has said it cannot stop politicians facing criminal and corruption charges from contesting.
"I'm now a free man to battle with those who have been crisscrossing the constituency celebrating my jail term," he said.
Speaking in his constituency, the MP said he is confident of being reelected.
"Both the EACC and the IEBC have said they have no power to stop politicians with criminal charges from vying. I'm telling my opponents to prepare for a defeat," Waluke said.
He assured the electorate that they should not be deceived by those opposing him that he will not contest.
"Let nobody cheat you that I will not vie because I have a case. I will be on the ballot come next year," Waluke said.
He said he will launch massive recruitment of UDA members in his constituency and asked residents to turn up in large numbers and register.
"We have now defected from Jubilee to UDA and I'm going to register as many members as possible," Waluke said.
