A 14-year-old boy has stabbed a man, aged 20, in the head over Sh150.
Austine Odoyo is fighting for his life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. He had disagreed with the boy over a refund at Mbani trading centre in Kachuth, Ndhiwa.
The boy then stabbed him with a knife.
Odoyo allegedly paid the student Sh150 to use his father's motorbike to train. It, however, broke down during the training session. Odoyo demanded his money back, but the boy refused, saying the money would cater for repair costs.
Area assistant chief Lucas Airo said the boy, who was to join Form 1 on Monday, demanded the motorbike’s key but Odoyo declined to surrender it, insisting that he be given his money back after being unable to complete the training.
When Odoyo refused to give the key, the boy went back home, returned with a knife and stabbed him in the head, Airo said.
Odoyo was rushed to Ndhiwa Subcounty Hospital and was later referred to Kisii Referral Hospital after his health deteriorated.
The suspect fled and was still at large as police launched a manhunt for him.
The incident occurred barely a month after another boy allegedly killed his uncle over a land boundary dispute in Kanyatonya village, East Kabuoch, Ndhiwa constituency.
The 17-year-old sat his KCPE at Ang’iya Primary School was also to join Form 1. He was angered when his uncle, Kennedy Ndeda, assaulted his mother during a land dispute.
He slashed Ndeda, who succumbed to his injuries.
