The Mulembe Youth Movement is planning to replace Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala with Saboti MP Caleb Amisi as its spokesperson.

Addressing party delegates in Bungoma county, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said they need to strengthen the outfit that supports party leader Raila Odinga and the handshake.

He said the recent actions displayed by Malala did not augur well with the Mulembe Youth Movement agenda.

“You have seen him going back to his party leader Musalia Mudavadi and has also been embroiled in many issues that put the outfit into much scrutiny,” Sifuna said.

“We are soon going to replace Malala, who has since rejoined ANC, with Amisi. We want someone who is focused and can unite all youths.”

Sifuna also said that ODM will treat Bungoma, Vihiga and Ukambani differently, "because there are people who want to kill ODM".

“We need to rejuvenate ODM in those regions, they will be supported morally and financially so that the party gains grassroots support. We will hold serious meetings to make sure that the party is well known through opening of offices in every subcounty,” he said.

“We will also ensure that we set up parliamentary presidential campaign coordinating committees so that the party can be felt all over the country,”.

He said the party will hold meetings in all subcounties in Bungoma county to ensure that they reach every corner and attract many people.

On BBI, Sifuna asked people to stop spreading unnecessary propaganda on it.

“BBI will help in disbursing funds to counties to ensure development in the grassroots. It will also offer a solution to the proposed two-thirds gender rule,” he said.

He said only ODM has proposed a gender rule mechanism. “ODM wants an automatic appointment of judges after a certain period if the President fails to appoint them. We also want changes in the IEBC so that every candidate has a right to be elected without being manipulated by officials,” Sifuna said.
