Two Kakamega ANC officials on Friday told Senator Cleophas Malala to stop "disrespectful attention-seeking outbursts" to curry favour with ODM.

They accused Malala of disrespecting ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.

The two were ANC Kakamega chairman Julius Arunga and county assembly Minority leader David Ndakwa.

They said Malala has no mandate to ask Mudavadi and Wetang'ula why they have not fielded candidates in the Embakasi South by-election. They accused him of "flirting with ODM while hiding in ANC".

Addressing an ODM meeting in Embakasi on Wednesday, Malala accused Mudavadi and Wetang'ula of lacking a political stand.

He said the two should have fielded candidates or declared publicly which side they support in the by-election. Malala said he supports the ODM candidate, Irshad Sumra.

“The two should give Luhyas political direction. This business of standing in the middle does not help us,” he said.

But Ndakwa said the senator should focus his energies towards "assisting the dying ODM party" and leave Mudavadi and Wetang'ula alone.

“We know who he is speaking for. He does not speak for Luhyas because we know who our leaders are," he said.

Arunga said ANC will choose whether and where to present candidates without making reference to anybody else. He said ANC does not owe Malala any explanation.

"For the record, he is the least qualified to purport to lecture our leaders...How dare he stand in a competitor's political rally and cast aspersions on our leaders and even threaten violence on them," the ANC chairman said.
