- Governor Lomorukai said it will be prudent for Turkana County to work with President-elect Ruto because there is a need to deliver services to people.
Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has vowed to work closely with President-elect William Ruto to deliver the agenda of development to residents of Turkana.
Lomorukai bagged the gubernatorial seat on the ODM party to succeed outgoing Governor Josphat Nanok who has served a maximum of two terms.
“Following the verdict of the Supreme Court on Monday for validating the presidency of Ruto and dismissing the petition of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga, we respect the decision of the Supreme court,”
“Their decision to me is independent and what they have ruled to uphold the presidency Ruto is right and we appreciate it,” he addressed the press in his office at Lodwar on Wednesday.
He said it will be prudent for Turkana County to work with President-elect Ruto because there is a need to deliver services to people.
“We will support the elected president because we know he will support our agenda to deliver services to the people of Turkana County and we really want to do it in good faith,” Lomorukai said.
He urged the Azimio La Umoja supporters to respect the Supreme Court decision and support the president-elect Ruto.
Raila garnered 96,117 votes in Turkana County, beating William Ruto who got 46,696 votes.
In the governor race, Lomorukai bagged 66,631 votes followed by former Petroleum CS John Munyes of Jubilee who got 41,866 votes and UDA candidate MP John Lodepe who got 33,639 votes.
Joseph Atol of the Mabadiliko Party garnered 1,352 votes.
