Former Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has won the Trans Nzoia governor seat.
This was after garnering 158,919 votes, his competitor Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya came in second with 79,020 votes. Wamalwa conceded defeat in a series of tweets.
In a series of Tweets after winning on Friday, Natembeya thanked his constituents for believing in him.
"It is with profound humility that I accept the overwhelming support that I have been shown by the residents of Transnzoia- bestowering me with privileges to be their governor," he said.
He thanked God and his family for providing the strength and zeal to sail through the political expedition.
"I also thank my family, My able Deputy Hon Philomenah Bineah Kapkory, my team and the entire people of Transnzoia for their relentless effort towards my gubernatorial bid,' he said.
"To my competitor, I wish to request you we join hands to transform Transnzoia, since this victory belongs to Transnzoia residents therefore it will be a great honor as leaders to shelve our competitive aspects and focus to bring change."
